Today is Herbert Manfred Marx's birthday. He was born February 25, 1901, and I think he was THE funniest Marx Brother. He was the 'straight man' in a room full of crazies. He was the comedic foil to Grouchos over-the-top antics. He is the Marx Brother that was never given the credit he deserved.
But to me dear Zeppo, you will be my favourite. Groucho is always a close second but that is because there was a sexual smarminess about him that I am always attracted to, but that is a whole different birthday story; one that includes Bugs Bunny, Errol Flynn and the Poet Ted Hughes.
Happy Birthday Zeppo, gone, but not forgotten.
